SMART Moves

SMART Moves is a health program made up of three groups: SMART Kids for ages 6-9, Start SMART for ages 10 -12, and Stay SMART for ages 13-15. Each program builds knowledge, attitudes and skills that increase healthy decision-making.

SMART Girls

SMART Girls program is for girls ages 8 to 18 focuses on guiding girls in developing and adopting a healthy attitude and lifestyle and acquiring and maintaining a positive self-concept, positive peer relationships and sound decision-making skills. Girls earn badges as they complete and master each session.

Career Launch

CAREER LAUNCH program for teens, where they identify job requirements, seek out financial aid and participate in career and job skills such as resume writing, interview preparation and job-seeking skills.

All-Sports Sports Leagues

ALL-STAR SPORTS LEAGUES is an organized sports league for youth and teens engaging members to play basketball, flag football and soccer. The goal of All-Stars is to allow all members to build physical literacy as they participate on a sports team and most importantly, have fun.

College Tours

COLLEGE TOURS emphasis on higher education continues to evolve, with a deepening commitment to recruiting more youth — particularly teens — more often, as well as producing more graduates with strong pathways from high school to college to career. The aim is to level the playing field for club members — many of whom will be first-generation college students — and strategically partner with higher education institutions to create and enhance access to college pathway experiences.

Academic Success

Through our Academic Success programs, we are developing globally competitive graduates. These programs are designed to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for post-secondary education and a 21st Century career.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The Boys & Girls Clubs Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs are removing barriers to creating opportunity and advancement. We can continue to move towards racial equity by shaping a robust dialogue among Club leaders, staff, board, volunteers, and young people. These specialized initiatives provide Club staff with training and resources to ensure young people who are frequently marginalized or overlooked can be included and supported at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

Youth For Unity

YOUTH FOR UNITY engages members and parents in activities that promote diversity and combat prejudice, bigotry and discrimination. As our nation becomes increasingly diverse, young people need the knowledge and skills to thrive in a globally connected society and world. Youth for Unity consists of a comprehensive, broad-based set of programmatic interventions that build the capacity to help our Club members appreciate themselves as unique and special individuals, understand our society's diversity, recognize bias and unfairness, and take personal leadership in confronting discrimination.

Passport to Manhood

PASSPORT TO MANHOOD is designed for boys ages 8-17. Each Passport to Manhood session focuses on a specific aspect of manhood through weekly sessions. The program represents a targeted effort to engage young men in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership and positive behavior.

Money Matters

MONEY MATTERS promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13 to 18. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, create a budget, save and invest, start small businesses and pay for college.

Triple Play

Triple Play Program is a dynamic wellness program demonstrating how eating right, keeping fit, and forming positive relationships add to a healthy lifestyle. The Triple Play program aims to improve Club members' knowledge of healthy habits, increase the number of hours they participate in physical activities per day, and strengthen their ability to interact positively with others and form healthy relationships.
